Number of Coopertive (Or not) Missions.
Hey everyone, I just bought this a few days ago and I still haven't opened it because of rather uncanny social events that I'll just skip for the now. Anyway, considering all this jazz about the missions being instanced, I would like to know just how many of them are in the game? I've read a few guides, including Gamespot's, and most of them only talk about four. A sophisticated answer to my question would be tremendously appreciated.
Thanks in advance, -Drakharran Z. |

lol 4! u must be joking. I have got to about the 20th mission and there are still more
Bear in mind that that is the missions not the quests! there are hundreds of quests! the mission is the main story line! |

Thanks, a nice quick answer. Gamespot is just slow I guess, considering the amount of time it took to post the damn guide.

Nope you dont have to do them in order. At the start of the game I had no clue what mission were so I never did my first mission till I was at Nolani and someone asked me if I wanted to join their group.

I do not think that we have published a complete mission walkthrough yet. However, they occur fairly linearly and help develop the storyline behind the game. Completing a mission usually drops you off at the next mission outpost or nearby it with fairly explicit directions. Check your quest log for your Primary Quest and it will usually indicate where the next mission is or something to that effect.
You can tell it is a mission outpost by the silver shield symbol on the world map. You can find a detailed map here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=4684 As for having to do them in order, in theory you can bypass all the missions by just running from outpost to outpost through explorable areas, but that tends to skip storyline. For example, the first mission I did after the Searing was actually the second one and there was another mission that I bypassed where a major character in the storyline was killed.

besides that, I think you can explore the entire world without doing a mission. As for the fact that missions are "instanced"... It's worth noting that everything in the game is instanced. The towns are large instances called "districts" containing many players, but explorable areas and missions alike are individually instanced for your own party. You won't randomly encounter other players when you are out exploring... only in town. |
